Art Journaling: A Day of Color and Mirth

Working in an art journal really brings out the inner child as I saw on April 17th.  Seven powerful, wonderful women turned into creative "little girls" as they played with paint and stamps, tore up magazines for collaging, wore animal hats, ate chocolate and made beautiful art in their journals.

Below are pictures of our day of creative play.

Have I forgotten to pack anything?   The kitchen sink maybe?
Linda and Jennifer hard at play.
Even in an Art Journaling workshop I include aromatics.
Here's Dee adding peppermint essential oil to her paint bottle.

Sassy was there, too!
It was her ninth birthday and this is how she celebrated.
In fact, this is how she celebrates
everything.

Linda drying her page with a hairdryer.
Pat brought this beautiful Goddess stamp from home.
I am SO ordering one!

Lots of goodies to play with!

Bobbie, deep in thought.
I love the freedom this process encourages!

I gave them animal hats and asked that them to write
in their journals how they were like their animal.
Cathy created a pretty border around her two-page spread.
Hey, Joleen is a southpaw.
It was truly a relaxing, fun and creative day.  When can we do it again?

That looks like so much fun! I want to be hard at play with you too! I laughed out loud at Sassy celebrating and got a good giggle at the animal hats. You'll have to get a hummingbird hat for me when I come. Oh Liz, you're doing such great things. I hope you were able to enjoy it too! I have 3 of the 4 books you displayed, I think Wreck This Journal is fairly new isn't it...will have to go look for it. Blessings my fragrant friend!

What fun! I'm familiar with some of the books. Will have to look for the others. Have you seen Violette Clark's Journal Bliss? It's lots of fun. You've made me want to play in my journal now. Yay!

Looks like an awesome workshop. I would love to run some thing like this. I have been thinking about a way to use my love of creativity and my social work degree together. Just not in a traditional way. i may have to look into these books. One of these days I'll also look more into soul collaging. I actually learned about it a little in a class in grad school. YOu give me thing to think about!

Wooooooooooooow! Loved that!
Cool idea to paint the bottle tops with the colour inside. Easy to spot what you need.
Cute animal hats.
