I can't remember a more relaxing day in ages.
This morning I slept in until 7 a.m. then lay in bed reading and dozing, something unusual for me since I'm an obnoxious morning person who jumps out from the covers straight into activity and conversation. But being slothful is quite seductive and I relaxed into it without much trouble.
Around noon, Gianluca and hubby carried trays full of food up to the bedroom and we all hung out on the bed feasting on eggs, sausage with sage, toast and honey, orange juice and, of course, coffee. We talked about Gianluca's upcoming birthday and Memorial Day weekend, Gianluca's graduation and our summer vacation plans. We are heading into a busy time in our family life.
After breakfast, hubby and Gianluca asked me to close my eyes. I did as was asked of me with no peeking. I swear. I expected a lovely Mother's Day card, maybe flowers.
But I did not expect this:
A Kenmore Sewing Machine!
I have never owned a sewing machine and although I don't fancy making clothes, I have frequently wished I had one to make certain craft items and soft furnishings for my miniature roombox scenes.
A few weeks ago I bought this book: and have since been going around the house muttering how nice it would be to own a sewing machine to make some of those simply sublime bags.
It would appear that the people I live with actually listen to me. Sometimes.
