Cats and Kids Make a Man Mush

My husband is what I call a "manly man".

Not in the macho, exaggerated sense of power, I-have-the-right-to-dominate way. Heaven forbid. But in the confident, determined, strong in mind and body, his-men-all-respect-him way. Plus he isn't happy unless he's building something.

So why, when our calico cat sweetly mews to go out, does he immediately go to her and ask in a falsetto voice, "wassa matta hannah babyyyyyy?" "you wanna go plaaaayyyyy?"

And why does it make me adore him?

our cat proudly brought a mouse into the house yesterday and laid it on the living room rug.

i texted husband (who is away this week attending a course) and said the cat had brought him a present and would he please come home and get it.

My husband loves our cats!!! If anything ever happened to them, he just might consider a divorce!!

.... he wouldn't divorce over the kids.

Tom also talks to them like little children.

Hit 40: You married well! Isn't it a riot how they become around "helpless" beings?

I hear you! guys who are able to show that tender, vulnerable side from time to time are just so much more attractive to me. mine played (& still does some) tough guy for EVER until our granddaughter was born. i'm suprised his little finger hasn't fallen off, that string is wrapped around it so tightly. ;)

I love it when my hubby gets down on the floor and plays with kids, dogs, etc. He's always so stressed with work that I love to see him play like that. Of course it's also a good time to tackle him cuz he's not expecting it. Good times, good times

I also married a "manly man", and yet one of the most gentle people I've ever met. You want to see what "real" men are made of? It's when they hold their newly born babies and cry from being so happy, or they look at you in a way that says "I love you so much, it hurts", or when they get teary from an emotional moment... That's how I measure how "manly" a man is, it's when they are strong and can make you feel safe, yet are not afraid to show their feelings. Did I mention?? I love my man :)

My cat is in love with my hubby. Me, she could take or leave, but she is obsessed with hubby. And he is with her. But don't tell him I said so!

My husband is also a manly man. He however caves when it comes to grandchildren and kittens. Shame on me I use it to my advantage sometimes. If he is in a bad mood I just come up with a grandchild story and it immediately makes him smile and get re-grouped again!!

Just goes to show he is in touch with his feminine side...that's what my DH calls it!

Janet: Yes, showing his tender side is what gets to me. I loved your comment about "I'm surprised his little finger hasn't fallen off, that string is wrapped around it so tightly". Made me laugh.
Chiara: kids, cats, puppies...makes us all a bit sweeter.
Bambi: Yep. I know exactly what you mean. And I bet he likes being tackled ;-)
Marinik: Very well put! It takes a strong, secure man to show his feminine side. Remember the book "real men eat quiche"?
VEG: I've accused my hubby of liking the cat more than me. His reply? "She's nicer to me than you are". Harumpf
Delena: Not taking advantage. Just being a smart wife ;-)
Alicia: Yes m'am. I mean, really, who wants a man that can't be a mush sometimes?
Marathoner: Thank you!
B: Sounds like it time to get a cat!!
